MGM Grand and the Mirage

Today's $5.4 billion takeover offer by MGM Grand Inc. for Mirage Resorts Inc. highlights two of the premier companies in gaming. A look at their operations:

MGM Grand:

MGM Grand earned a record $39.9 million, for 68 cents a share in the fourth quarter, up from $21.2 million or 41 cents in the year-ago quarter. Revenue rose from $214.9 million to $420.9 million.
