Bandits win 5th in row

NBA veteran Harold Ellis' 28 points off the bench sparked the Las Vegas Silver Bandits (8-10) to a 119-110 win over the Richmond Rhythm (5-10) at Richmond Coliseum on Thursday night. The win was the fifth in a row for Las Vegas, equalling the league's longest current winning streak.

"This was the kind of game I was waiting for," said Ellis. "We are the road warriors of the IBL and everything is coming together for us. We plan on showing the fans a winning team when we start playing at home again."

Former Vancouver Grizzlies and UCLA player J.R. Henderson was the high scorer in the game with 29 points, 22 of them coming in the first half. Rocky Walls finished with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Isaac Burton added 13 points and dished out a game high nine assists.

The Silver Bandits trailed by as many as nine early in the game but they outscored Richmond 32-25 in the third quarter and 28-26 in the fourth.

DeeAndre Hulett drew the task of guarding the IBL's leading scorer, Richmond's A.J. English. English came into the game averaging 29.2 points per game and Hulett held him to just 16 points on the night.

The Silver Bandits will play Richmond again tonight before traveling to San Diego on Sunday. Sunday's game will be televised live in Las Vegas on Cox Cable Metro 48 and in Parhump on KPVM TV-41. The Silver Bandits' next home game is Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. against Cincinnati.
