One dies in Interstate 15 crash

One person died and several others were injured Sunday night in a two-vehicle hit-and-run accident on Interstate 15 near the Nevada-California state line, California Highway Patrol officials said.

A minivan was struck from behind by a Ford Escort about 5 p.m. causing the minivan to skid off the roadway and overturn. One passenger in the minivan died and several others were injured, highway patrol officials said. No other information about the victims was available this morning.

The car also skidded off the roadway, but the driver and passenger fled the area. The driver was arrested about seven hours after the accident, but the driver's name and charges filed were not available this morning.
