Indianan collects campaign money at casino

An Indiana Democrat trying to win a second term in Congress raised at least $13,000 in a recent fund-raising trip in Las Vegas.

Rep. Baron Hill, first elected in 1998, attended a Dec. 17 brunch hosted by Caesars Palace that was attended by about 10 people. Hill paid for the $346 in travel costs.

Hill's Southern Indiana district has three riverboat casinos, including Caesars Glory of Rome, a sister property of Caesars Palace.

"I don't like going to Las Vegas and having a fund-raiser, but you do what you have to do with fund-raising as long as you have been compliant with the law," Hill told the Associated Press.

The fund-raiser was organized by former Nevada Gov. Bob List, Hill said. List is Republican.
