Thunderbirds get a new commander

Lt. Col. John Venable, 40, took command Friday of the Thunderbirds, the Air Force demonstration squadron, becoming the 26th commander in the group's 47-year history.
Venable is scheduled to lead all air demonstrations through 2001, and he will take the Thunderbirds on a 20-day, five-country deployment to Europe this year, a Nellis Air Force Base spokesman said.
