Car washes will help two families

Clark County firefighters will be out scrubbing bumpers Saturday to help raise money for two local families in need.

They will conduct two car washes to benefit the Clark County Firefighters' Fund, Assistant Clark County Fire Chief Joe Planck said. The money raised will pay for dental work needed by a 15-year-old burn victim's mother and to help defray costs of another woman's bone marrow transplant.

Each car wash is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. One will be in the parking lot of Applebee's restaurant at the corner of Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway. The other will be in the Applebee's parking lot at Warm Springs and Paradise roads.

Nutrition lecture planned at UMC

University Medical Center's Silver Advantage program will hold a nutrition lecture 7 p.m. Monday at the Desert Willow Community Center, 2020 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Henderson.

Martina Cartwright will discuss healthy eating habits, special diets and other nutritional tips. Learn how to prepare low sodium, diabetic and other special diet meals without sacrificing taste. Call 383-2095.

JACS meeting

Congregation Ner Tamid will host a weekly JACS meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday at 2761 Emerson Ave. JACS is a 12-step program to provide support to Jewish alcoholics, chemically dependent persons and significant others. Call 733-6292.
