Las Vegas area fishing report

The Nevada Division of Wildlife reports that largemouth bass are schooling and are trapping shad in coves. Stripers are being caught from boils with boaters having better luck than shore anglers.

John Hutchings, NDOW biologist, said he has been seeing varying sizes of shad, which indicates there were multiple spawns this year. This is an improvement from the previous two years when there were poor spawns for the lake's primary forage fish.

Hutchings said anglers should have success by casting small lures to the edge of boils. Running a boat into or over a boil will cause the fish to stop feeding.
