Letter: Congress ignores medical needs of senior citizens

This is a form of health care that a significant number of senior citizens are completely dependent upon to meet their medical needs. With the price of prescription drugs escalating beyond belief, doctors' fees growing and hospitalization at an all-time high, members of Congress voted themselves a raise but will not cover the increases facing these health providers so that they can continue to care for the elderly.

If they would just look at a newspaper, they would find that more and more of these plans are being terminated. The companies can no longer afford to provide comprehensive plans. Why? Because there is not enough money allocated to operate and provide the same level of plan services.

One must conclude that members of Congress, like Scrooge, are primarily interested in decreasing the surplus population of senior citizens. All of this in order to give themselves a raise and appear to be fiscally conservative.
