Chile is No. 1 in the firmament of rising stars in the world of wines. That country is relying on old vines and new oak, plus a combination of French and local methods of vinification, to produce excellent wines. This wine is the result of a collaboration between French oenologist Michel Rolland and Chilean growers. It's a deep red, nicely concentrated wine scented with berries and cedar. Drink now, or lay it down for three or four years.
Available at Lee's Discount Liquors and Smith's, $8.99.
