Letter: Use courtesy to save books

Since my husband and I moved to this area, and as soon as we were somewhat settled in, we went to the Las Vegas-Clark County Public Library, at the Cheyenne and Decatur location.

We got our library cards, and have gone to the libraries quite often. I am currently on a mystery/suspense/novel stage, and have been able to read (and listen to) many, many books. I use the Rainbow Library now most of the time.

I feel that this is a privilege provided by Clark County for readers, and it disturbs me to open a rather new hard-cover book and see the pages either dog-eared, torn, written on, cigarette burns, etc. Ever since I was in grammar school, I discovered the delights in reading a good book, and we were always told by our teachers to use a bookmark!

No matter where I am, reading a book, I have something to "save" my page. I can't imagine anyone being so careless with "borrowed" books.

My eyesight isn't good at 75, but I can use the big print, or listen to cassette books (a wonderful invention with so many great readers). My thanks to all librarians and libraries.
