Helen Inez Argento

Helen Inez Argento, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 26, 1928, in New York. A resident for nine years, she was a registered nurse.

She is survived by her husband, John J.; three daughters, Joe Len Hanson and Joni Garzaniti, both of California, and Jami Felton of Nevada; one son, Vincent Argento of California; one sister, Joann Kuhn of New York; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Manuel B. Banez Sr.

Manuel B. Banez Sr., 91, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1909, in the Philippines. A resident for five years, he was a retired civil engineer for the Navy and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by four sons, Dr. Conrado Banez of Rochester, N.Y., Benigno Banez of Chicago, Joseph Banez of Hinsdale, Ill., and Manuel Banez Jr. of Las Vegas; two daughters, Luna Saxena of Encinatas, Calif., and Norma Manlangit of Houston; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until a 6:30 p.m. rosary today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Mass will be celebrated 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Graveside services will be 10:15 a.m. Saturday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Jeanne Barber

Jeanne Barber, 76, of Denver died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Evanston, Ill. A former Las Vegas resident for one year, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, Randy Barber of Washington, D.C., Scott Barber of Twin Bridges, Mont., Phil Barber of Boulder, Colo., and Dan Barber of Henderson; one daughter, Judi Barber McCandless of Eastchester, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Evelyn 'Arch' Bolstad

Evelyn 'Arch' Bolstad, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born April 21, 1916, in Dennison, Minn. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Donald.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Floye O. Clay

Floye O. Clay, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 20, 1923, in White County, Ark. A resident for nine years, he was a retired wholesale meat salesman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; one daughter, Charlotte Ashworth of Henderson; two sons, Gary Clay of Friendswood, Texas, and Philip Clay of Edinburg, Texas; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 1 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.

Yolanda Gandara De Salomone

Yolanda Gandara De Salomone, 42, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 28, 1957, in Mexico. A resident for more than 20 years, she was an eligibility financial specialist in the medical industry.

She is survived by her husband, Steven L.; one son, Jorge Salomone of Las Vegas; her mother, Florencia Gonzales Gandara, and three brothers, Jesus Gandara, Erasmo Gandara and Escquiel Gandara, all of Mexico; and one sister, Manuella Gandara of Panama.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Jeffrey Goldstein

Jeffrey Goldstein, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 29, 1941, in New York. A resident for nine years, he was a writer in the thoroughbred horse racing industry.

He is survived by his wife, Lea Hall; one daughter, Alexandra Goldstein of San Francisco; one stepson, Jeremiah Bouman; and one brother, Ronald Goldstein.

Neptune Society of Nevada, 8570 Del Webb Blvd., is arranging private services.

Richard Allen Guthrie

Richard Allen Guthrie, 54, of Beatty died Sunday in Beatty. He was born Oct. 3, 1945, in Cottage Grove, Ore. A resident for 30 years, he was a grocery store manager and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Jennie Hedgers of Washington state, Tammy Bowders of Oregon and Coleen Guthrie of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren.

Violet Marie Dutton Hardy

Violet Marie Dutton Hardy, 64, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Orangeville, Utah. A resident for 40 years, she was a receptionist for an orthodontist.

She is survived by one son, Michael Hardy, and two daughters, Marelle Hardy and Tammi Hardy, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Myrna Buxton of Las Vegas and Deanna Martin of Maryland; one brother, David Dutton of Arizona; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Cemetery.

William Harrell Sr.

William Harrell Sr., 84, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 22, 1916, in McComb, Miss. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired hotel teamster.

He is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Barje, and one son, William Harrell Jr., both of Henderson; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Dorothy L. Henderson

Dorothy L. Henderson, 66, of Las Vegas died Monday in North Las Vegas. She was born March 26, 1934, in Denver. A resident for 28 years, she was a change girl for more than 25 years at Jerry's Nugget.

She is survived by four brothers, William F. Sharpley, Arthur E. Sharpley, Walter E. Sharpley of David R. Sharpley, all of Colorado.

Services and burial will be in Colorado. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Beverly Marie Jones

Beverly Marie Jones, 56, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Springfield, Ohio. A resident for seven years, she was a bookkeeper and a member of the Las Vegas Art Guild and Montana Art Guild.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; three daughters, Heather Anderson of Missoula, Mont., and Debra Stoops and Janine Daniels, both of Springfield; one son, Brian Jones of Missoula; her mother, Georgia Lear, and one sister, Carollyn Ewers, both of Springfield; two brothers, Ernest Lear of Tucson, Ariz., and Brett Lear of Springfield; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 1-5 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

N. David Kidder

N. David Kidder, 74, of Washington, Utah, died Tuesday in a Utah medical center. He was born Aug. 16, 1925, in Illinois. A resident for more than 30 years, he was a retired lithographer in the advertising industry, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Elks and the B-Sharp Square Dance Club.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two sons, John Kidder of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Paul Kidder of Henderson; one sister, Marylin Cox of Centralia, Mo.; one brother, Rex Kidder of Easton, Conn.; and one grandchild.

Services will be 3:30 p.m. today in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Graveside services will follow at 4:45 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Mitchel S. Lenz

Mitchel S. Lenz, 16, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 27, 1983, in California. A resident for 16 years, he was a student.

He is survived by his parents, Erin and Pete Lenz of Las Vegas.

John Jacob Manes

John Jacob Manes, 44, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1955, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was an ice cream vendor.

He is survived by one daughter, Ashley Dawn Manes, and one son, Garrett Ryan Manes, both of Las Vegas; and his father and stepmother, David C. and Rose M. Quigley of Sarasota, Fla.

Leonor Ramirez

Leonor Ramirez, 85, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 12, 1914, in Mexico. A resident for many years, he was a farm laborer.

He is survived by two daughters, Nellie Garcia and Teresa Ramirez, both of Las Vegas.

Eleanor Wislowitz Roden

Eleanor Wislowitz Roden, 82, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born June 25, 1917, in New York City. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired retail store manager.

She is survived by one stepson, Martin Roden of Arcadia, Calif.

Fulvia Rosa

Fulvia Rosa, 88, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born April 9, 1912, in Eveleth, Minn. A resident for five years, she was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee, a member of Women's Auxiliary in Minnesota and the National Catholic Order of Foresters.

She is survived by one son, Jim Rosa of Las Vegas.

William Sarvis

William Sarvis, 92, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local health care center. He was born July 6, 1907, in Monroe Township, Ohio. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired machinist for a manufacturing company and a member of the Eagles in Willoughby, Ohio, for 31 years.

He is survived by one daughter, Janice Kursy of Las Vegas; one son, Larry Sarvis of Painesville, Ohio; one sister, Margaret Orris of New Lexington, Ohio; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Samuel Scringer

Samuel Scringer, 43, of St. George, Utah, died Tuesday in St. George. He was born Sept. 17, 1956, in Newark, N.J. A former resident of Las Vegas for two years, he was a corrections officer.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Clara and Agustin Rodriguez, one sister, Rosa Inez Scringer, and one brother, Franky Rodriguez, all of Las Vegas.

Kenya T. Smythe

Kenya T. Smythe, 20, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born June 2, 1979, in California. A resident for 16 years, she was an administrative assistant for Ahern Rentals.

She is survived by her companion, Michael Dion Joyner, and one son, Adonis Dion Joyner, both of Las Vegas; her biologicial mother, Shanna Nadarajah of Midway City, Calif.; her guardian mother, Betty Grayson of Las Vegas; two brothers, Cameron Schweitzer-Smythe of California and Kirk Goffney of Las Vegas; three sisters, Kim Taylor and Sue Duputy, both of Las Vegas, and Phyllis S. McDonald of California.

A memorial service will be noon Friday in Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1100 N. D St. Burial will be private. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

LeNoir Taylor

LeNoir Taylor, 75, of Henderson died Wednesday in a California hospital. She was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Montana. A resident for 41 years, she was a retired desk clerk in the casino industry.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd; two sons, Tom Taylor of Chicago and Terry Taylor of Las Vegas; one daughter, Rita Kemp of Henderson; two brothers, Gordon Simanton of Pasco, Wash., and Jim Simanton of Spokane, Wash.; one sister, Vesta Vantrease of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Russell Lee Wood

Russell Lee Wood, 41, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 19, 1959, in Oklahoma. A resident for many years, he was a construction supervisor.

He is survived by his father, Donald Lee Wood, and his mother, Neita Ruth Swinford, both of Oklahoma.
