Flanary child dies after heart problems

Alicia Nicole Flanary had undergone three surgeries since she was born Jan. 25.

Former Sparks High School teacher Diana Moana Flanary, 31, was on her way to a hospital Saturday afternoon, but the child stopped breathing and paramedics could not revive her.

It was thought the child might have resulted from a five-month affair with a 17-year-old pupil, but DNA tests confirmed Flanary's husband was the child's father.

Mrs. Flanary has resigned and the Flanarys have separated.
