Music professor receives honor

UNLV selected longtime music faculty member Virko Baley as a distinguished professor. Baley, an internationally known conductor and composer, has taught at UNLV for three decades. He founded the Nevada Symphony Orchastra in 1980 and served as its music director until 1995.

A native of Ukraine, he has received numerous grants, commissions and awards for his compositions and direction.
