Letter: Nondrivers must be extra careful on roadways

Runners, walkers and skateboarders, do your activities in the street facing the oncoming traffic, not going with the traffic. Now you are positioned to see the dangerous vehicles coming toward you. Yes, over the years I have moved away from some that have tried to hit me. Be careful when you come up to a vehicle that is trying to make a right turn. The drivers look to the left and floor it when they think it is clear. You may be in front of the vehicle if you didn't make eye contact with the driver. If you don't, go behind the vehicle.

Yes, it may have been different if the person was on the sidewalk. There are many reasons we use the street, but we must be ever looking for danger, and headphones are another problem.

Please be careful and enjoy the outdoors. We don't need anymore memorials because we didn't plan for danger.
