Contractor seeks to foreclose on resort

A Columbia, S.C.-based subcontractor is seeking to foreclose on the Aladdin hotel-casino, alleging its owner Aladdin Gaming LLC and general contractor Fluor Enterprises Inc. failed to pay more than $6 million for work done on the property.

SMI-Owen Steel Co. Inc. alleged in a federal lawsuit that it was hired by Irvine, Calif.-based Fluor Enterprises to install "structural steel, hollow core precast concrete plank flooring, above-grade concrete slabs and spray fireproofing" for the Aladdin.

SMI-Owen said it completed the work on Sep. 17, 1999.

Terry Towle, Fluor Enterprise's senior project manager, could not be reached for comment.
