You have just been elected president of your group. You have just accepted everyone's warmest congratulations. You have just been handed the gavel.

Now what do you do?

Thousands of people unschooled in the ways of Robert's Rules of Order face this dilemma each year as they take their rightful places within organizations, either as volunteers or elected officials.

In Las Vegas there is an organization that each year holds a special seminar for people who need to bone up on how to run meetings. The group, International Training in Communication, maintains that the biggest barriers facing organizations as they set out to accomplish their goals are meetings that are not run smoothly.

This year's seminar runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 25 at the Community College of Southern Nevada, Building C, Rooms 209 and 210, 6375 West Charleston Boulevard.

Two classes will be offered, basic and advanced.

Teaching the classes this year will be registered parliamentarians Terry Biles, Dollie McPartlin, Paula Petruso, and Solveiga Unger.
