Letter: Desert is home to wonderful plants, animals

The color pictures are beautiful! It's good to know what else lives here besides people.

Over the years, we Nevadans have made the point that "Nevada is not a barren wasteland." Now we can say what it is that we are -- "We are the home of the bearpoppy and the Blue Diamond cholla. And lots of other plants and animals that live here and nowhere else in the world."

We need to know how special we are and that there is so much worth saving in the desert right around us.
