Suspect held without bond

The Las Vegas driver accused of rear-ending the car of Megabucks winner Cynthia Jay-Brennan Saturday night will remain in the Clark County Detention Center without bond, for now.

Clark Dwayne Morse, 57, who is accused of being drunk when his sport utility vehicle smashed into the rear of Jay-Brennan's car, made his initial court appearance before Justice of the Peace Doug Smith this morning.

The accident killed Jay-Brennan's sister and seriously injured the Megabucks winner.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Gary Booker told Smith he was still awaiting the final results of Morse's blood alcohol tests and asked to be given until next Wednesday to file charges against Morse.

Smith told Morse that records indicate he has 16 prior DUI arrests.

"I find that you are a threat to society, and I am going to hold you without bail," Smith said.

Morse was arrested on a charge of felony driving under the influence after he ran from the scene, police said.

A woman who identified herself as Morse's mother declined to comment at the court hearing, saying the media has treated her son worse than O.J. Simpson.
