Customers claim injuries from LV resort water attractions

Two personal injury lawsuits were filed against the Mandalay Bay megaresort on the Las Vegas Strip and the manufacturer and operator of two of its water attractions, the "Lazy River Pool" and the "Wave Pool."

Katie Bill sued the hotel-casino and the operators of the Wave Pool, alleging she was injured on Aug. 1, 1999, when they failed to properly regulate the power of the wave machine, causing the pool -- which she said was "negligently built" -- to generate "unexpectedly large and dangerous waves."

Bill accused the defendants of "conducting an ultrahazardous activity by incorporating a wave machine that has capabilities ill-suited for the public and was in a pool not big enough for such capabilities."

Separately, Karyn Press sued the hotel-casino and the operators of the Lazy River Pool, alleging she was injured on July 12, 1999, because they failed to warn her of the "dangerous defects and conditions and unrealistic risks of harm" in the pool.

Mandalay Bay officials could not be reached for comment on the allegations.
