Russell Charles Armour

Russell Charles Armour, 33, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. A resident for 24 years, he was born April 17, 1968, in Indiana, Pa.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Karen M. and Peter Cummings of Las Vegas; his father, Russell O.Armour Jr., and one half-brother, Max Armour, both of Miami; and three stepbrothers, Daniel Cummings of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Steven Cummings of Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Craig Cummings of New York City.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private.

The family suggests donations to University Medical Center Foundation 1 North Fund, 1800 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89102, Attention: Lula Gilbert.

Nona Babonakis

Nona Babonakis, 85, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born July 12, 1916, in Peabody, Mass. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired clerk in the retail food industry.

She is survived by one daughter, Helen Babonakis of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Grace Becker

Grace Becker, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A co-owner of a radio and TV business, she was born Feb. 12, 1917, in Bethlehem, Pa.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Lipsky of Hellertown, Pa.

Walter Bitaut

Walter Bitaut, 81, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. He was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Chicago. A resident for 18 months, he was a retired teacher, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Parkinson's Disease Support Group in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; one daughter, Joanna Gerali, and one son, Walter C. Bitaut, both of Henderson; one sister, Ann Gregarek of Niles, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Helena Bowen

Helena Bowen, 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 12, 1938, in Chicago. A resident for seven years, she was a retired occupational therapist.

She is survived by her husband, Acy J.; one son, Eric Bowen of Las Vegas; three sisters; one brother; and one grandchild.

Martha Elfriede Bradman

Martha Elfriede Bradman, 84, of Las Vegas died Dec. 12 in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born July 9, 1917, in Germany.

She is survived by two nieces, Renata Baxley and Inge Clifton, both of Mesquite, Texas.

Rose M. Bumbaca

Rose M. Bumbaca, 78, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 20, 1923, in McKees Rocks, Pa. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel; one daughter, Dr. Arlene Bumbaca of Henderson; one sister, Ida Faramelli of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

R. Evelyn Conk

R. Evelyn Conk, 72, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Provo, Utah. A resident for 36 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by her husband, Clifton; two sons, Phillip Conk and Terry Conk, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Kent Prestwich of St. George, Utah, and Lloyd Prestwick of Murray, Utah; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Friday in the LDS Las Vegas Stake Center. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. (MST) Saturday in Orem City Cemetery, Orem, Utah.

Rafael Ianacone

Rafael Ianacone, 81, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born June 20, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired school district music superintendent, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Mary; two sons, Ray Ianacone of Las Vegas and Robert Ianacone of Fairfax, Va.; two daughters, Evonne Ryan of Littleton, Colo., and Denise Walther of Martinez, Calif.; one brother, Dave Anacone, and one sister, Phyllis DeStefano, both of Buffalo; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Additional visitation is scheduled noon until a 2 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Frieda E. Kontis

Frieda E. Kontis, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. She was born April 22, 1924, in Canton, Ohio. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Lydia VonZiebrecht of Tampa, Fla.; three sons, Kemon Kontis of Littlerock, Calif., Nick Kontis of Valencia, Calif., and Kris Kontis of Santa Ana, Calif.; two brothers, Lucas Ermedes of Las Vegas and Chris Hermedes of Albany, N.Y.; one sister, Grace Randell of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 8901 Del Webb Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Mary W. Kubinski

Mary W. Kubinski, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born April 15, 1915, in Detroit. A resident for 24 years, she was a retired data entry operator for an automobile dealership.

She is survived by two sons, Fred Kubinski and David Kubinski, both of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services followed in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Claudia Landress

Claudia Landress, 83, of Pahrump died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born March 31, 1918, in South Carolina. A resident for three years, she was retired and was a member of the Moose.

She is survived by one daughter, Earlene Deckert of Washington state; three sisters; one brother; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday followed by a 1 p.m. service in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.

Phillip McVey

Phillip McVey, 77, of Helena, Mont., died Wednesday. He was born April 22, 1924, in Eureka. A resident for 45 years, he was a retired manager for the Right of Way Department, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by three sons, Steve McVey and Frank McVey, both of Las Vegas ,and Sean McVey of San Francisco; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

LaVerne Eileen Murphy

LaVerne Eileen Murphy, 77, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born May 26, 1924, in Chicago. A resident for 40 years, she was a credit investigator for the Golden Nugget.

She is survived by one stepson, William Murphy of Chatham, N.J.; one stepdaughter, Sharon Racibozynski of Neighborville, Ill.; two sisters, Joan Janavice of LaMesa, Calif., and Shirley Barta of Las Vegas; and five step-grandchildren.

William D. Scott

William D. Scott, 89, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 17, 1912, in California. A resident for 10 years, he was a factory worker on screen doors and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Virginia Nuness of Pinole, Calif., and April Bradley of Palm Springs, Calif.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 10:40 a.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Dong-Suen Sohn

Dong-Suen Sohn, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 19, 1913, in El-Jhu, Korea. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired music teacher.

She is survived by four daughters, Teresa Y. Sohn of Las Vegas, Esther Sohn of Hong Kong, Julia Sohn of Henderson and Helen Murray of London; one son, John Sohn of Hong Kong; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-2 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

Hazel Vanek

Hazel Vanek, 87, of Henderson died Tuesday in Henderson. She was born July 2, 1914, in Gary, Ind. A resident for two years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, James Vanek of Henderson; one brother, Harold Francis Keller of Florida; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Thomas M. Walsh

Thomas M. Walsh, 54, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 29, 1947, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for many years, he was a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Thomas Walsh of Sandusky, Ohio; and one sister, Barbara Hippe of Ridgefield Park, N.J.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Hackensack, N.J. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
