Letter: Seniors shouldn't pay for schools

Many seniors who move to Las Vegas are on fixed incomes. No doubt they paid their dues when their own children were growing up and being educated.

There seem to be funds for improving the buildings for the elected officials, and there are funds for raises for the elected officials and others. These raises are usually much more than the annual Social Security raises each year.

So why should our seniors who moved here for retirement living have to support the schools for the children? If taxes have to be the means of support for the children, then I believe the parents of these children should be required to pay the funds needed.

Perhaps there could be a required admission fee for these students to be paid by their parents. Yes, their parents, not we parents whose children are now grown.

Call me selfish or having a sour-grapes attitude, but I believe in fairness for all. Taxing a senior is not fair.
