Alfred Thomas Burton

Alfred Thomas Burton, 88, of Pahrump died Nov. 19 in Pahrump. He was born Jan. 21, 1913, in London, Ontario. A resident of Las Vegas for 12 years and most recently a Pahrump resident for 10 years, he was a marine engineer at Matson Navigation Co. for 35 years and a veteran of the Merchant Marines and the Navy.

He is survived by one son, Alfred W.; one stepson, Joseph Reis of Fremont, Calif.; two brothers, Douglas Burton of Texas and Leonard Burton of Missouri; two sisters, Aileen Pitcher of New York and Shirley Helle of Michigan; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling private arrangements.

Dennis Butler

Dennis Butler, 30, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 7, 1971, in Chicago. A resident for 12 years, he was a hairstylist.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two children, Nikki and Christian; his mother, Francine Ragonese Paston; his father, Patrick Paston; and two brothers, Bruce Butler and Joe Ragonese.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Valley Memorial Crematory, 4855 W. Desert Inn Road, is handling arrangements.

Susana Maria Cabrera

Susana Maria Cabrera, 45, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 18, 1956, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A resident for 13 years, she was a self-employed agent.

She is survived by one daughter, Juliana Medeiros of Las Vegas; and one brother, Juan Cabrera of Providence, R.I.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today with 6 p.m. services at Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St.

Jerry Cole

Jerry Cole, 57, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born May 20, 1944, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a dealer and an alumnus of UNLV.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; three sons, Monty Kendall, Richard Hopster and Duane Hopster, all of Henderson; one sister, Virginia Hess, and one brother, Don Cole, both of Sacramento; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Henderson.

Wayne Ray DeSherlia

Wayne Ray DeSherlia, 46, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 2, 1955, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a dealer.

He is survived by one daughter, Brenda DeSherlia of Boulder City; one son, Daniel DeSherlia of Fishersville, Va.; his mother, Alice Horn of Las Vegas; three brothers, Larry Kimball of Las Vegas, Myron Kimball of Reno and Ron DeSherlia of Chicago; and three sisters, Rayda Burns of Cary, Ill., Maryann Parrott of Oceanside, Calif., and Carol DeSherlia.

Visitation was scheduled 10-10:20 a.m. today in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. A memorial service date is pending.

Richard E. Dickens Sr.

Richard E. Dickens Sr., 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 2, 1924, in Ohio. A resident for many years, he was an engineer for a glass manufacturer.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly.

Tony Genovese

Tony Genovese, 69, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1932, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for seven years, he was a retired maintenance man and painter for an automobile manufacturer.

He is survived by his wife, Lia; one daughter, Lisa Garay of Las Vegas; one sister, Marian Evans, and one brother, John Genovese, both of Henderson; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Laura R. Gerleman

Laura R. Gerleman, 36, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 6, 1964, in Holbrook, Ariz. A resident for 32 years, she was a dental assistant.

She is survived by one son, Zachary Gerleman, and her mother, Georgianna Lloyd, both of Henderson; her father, Freddie Ulibarri of Glendale, Ariz.; one sister, Amanda Ulibarri, and two brothers, Michael Ulibarri and Delano Ulibarri, all of Henderson.

Shirley Mae Gursh

Shirley Mae Gursh, 76, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. She was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Joliet, Ill. A resident for six years, she was a clothing buyer and a member of the Sweet Adelines choir.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond; one son, Donald R. Gursh of Litchfield, Ill.; one daughter, Carole Pirc, and one brother, Robert J. Pirc, both of Henderson; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Services will follow at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Julius Hayes

Julius Hayes, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Marion County, Miss. A resident for 46 years, he was a retired bartender at the Showboat and the El Cortez.

He is survived by two daughters, Gwendolyn Taylor and Jolynn Brewer, and four sons, Jerry Julius, Lewis C. Hayes, Jimmie D. Hayes and Wayne Hayes, all of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1189 W. Hassell Ave. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Palm Memorial Park.

Ozro Huddleston

Ozro Huddleston, 87, of Reno died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1914, in Union, Miss. A resident for four months, he was a retired government ammunition handler.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow.

Sandra Avila Hughes

Sandra Avila Hughes, 42, of Pahrump and Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 4, 1959, in Los Angeles. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her companion, Michael Poff, and one daughter, Kady Poff, both of Pahrump; one son, Anthony Hughes of Tennessee; her parents, Manuel and Mary Gomez of Mojave, Calif.; and two sisters, Dolores Embrey of Pahrump and Ruth Burnham of Mojave.

Visitation is scheduled 9-11 a.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Mary Frances Johnson

Mary Frances Johnson, 64, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 4, 1937, in Pelahatchie, Miss. A resident for 38 years, she was a retired hotel guest room attendant.

She is survived by her husband, James; one daughter, Crystal Joy Johnson of North Las Vegas; one sister, Thelma Hughes of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be noon Saturday in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Jeannette Joseph

Jeannette Joseph, 53, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born July 4, 1948, in South Carolina. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker and a veteran of the Reserves.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; two daughters, Darneta Harris of Fontana, Calif., and Deana Coleman of Henderson; one brother, William Jones of Los Angeles and Charles Jones of Pasadena, Calif.; two sisters, Sandra Alberez of Ontario, Calif., and Marilyn Jones of Pasadena; and four grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in California. Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive., is handling arrangements.

Micah Jefferson Kittell

Micah Jefferson Kittell, 37, of Henderson died Tuesday in Henderson. He was born March 3, 1964, in Henderson. A lifelong resident, he was a mechanic.

He is survived by one son, Jefferson James Kittell of Lancaster, Calif.; one daughter, Katrina Crystal Kittell of Indio, Calif.; his parents, Gene and Julia Kittell of Utah; five brothers, Lawrence Kittell of Payson, Utah, Steve Kittell, Jason Kittell and Joshua Kittell, all of Henderson, and Charles Kittell of Canon, Colo.; two sisters, Verna Kittell of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Judy Frost of Orderville, Utah; and his grandmother, Hazel Redmon of LaVerkin, Utah.

Ruby Laveeda Lewis

Ruby Laveeda Lewis, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. She was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Dallas. A resident for 43 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, Alfred A. Lewis, William D. Lewis, Phillip R. Lewis and Perry L. Lewis, and one daughter, Judy A. Williams, all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Frances Phillips and Louella Hodges, both of Las Vegas, and Doloris Fikes of Pioche; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Flavio A. Lopez

Flavio A. Lopez, 21, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 6, 1980, in Grants, N.M. A resident for four years, he was a tile setter.

He is survived by his mother, Eva M. Lopez of Las Vegas; his father, Joe A. Lopez of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Naomi Y. Lopez of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Ceceilia Lopez of Penasco, N.M., Mike Lovato of Farmington, N.M., and Merilinda Lopez of Albuquerque, N.M.

Frank Mantell

Frank Mantell, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 26 years, he was a supervisor in the retail industry.

He is survived by his wife, Virgie.

William L. McLeod

William L. McLeod, 64, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 31, 1937, in Los Angeles. A resident for 40 years, he was a contractor and a member of Desert People Motorcycle Club.

He is survived by one daughter, Valerie Atiyeh, and one son, Michael McLeod, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Michael A. Messina

Michael A. Messina, 48, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. He was born Jan. 14, 1953, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a retired director of engineering for a broadcasting company.

He is survived by one daughter, Gracie of California; his mother, Georgiann Messina of Las Vegas; three brothers, Tony Messina and Enrico Messina, both of Las Vegas, and Matthew Messina of Rialto, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Irene Beverly Mills, 63, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born April 28, 1938, in Oklahoma City. A resident for seven years, she was a retired job coach for the developmentally handicapped and a member of Canyon Gate Women's Golf Club.

She is survived by her husband, Paul R.; one daughter, Hallie Liu of Stevenson Ranch, Calif.; one son, Steve Skaggs of Santa Clarita, Calif.; her parents, Ila J. and John Cumming, and one brother, Ronnie Lee Jamison, all of Garden Grove, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

William R. Prenevost, 81, of Las Vegas died Nov. 10 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Neenah, Wis. A resident for eight years, he was an industrial engineer and a Coast Guard veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; three daughters, Cindy Nightengale of Grants Pass, Ore., Lori Tast of Long Beach, Calif., and Rosemary Breech of Ojai, Calif.; one son, Richard Hill of Gardnerville; and six grandchildren.

Elvin Propps

Elvin Propps, 68, of Pahrump died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Oregon. A resident for 13 years, he was an Air Force veteran of 21 years and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; three daughters, Cheryl Propps of California and Diana Oliveaux and Brenda Propps, both of Washington state; one son, Johnny Propps of California; one brother, John Propps of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road.

Peter Quattrone

Peter Quattrone, 55, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born March 29, 1949, in New York City. A resident for three years, he was a hotel general manager and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his father, Joseph Quattrone of Hanover, N.H.; his mother, Barbara Quattrone of Cape Cod, Mass.; and two brothers, David Quattrone of Cincinnati and Bob Quattrone of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Anne M. Shapiro aka Mauriello

Anne M. Shapiro aka Mauriello, 74, of Henderson died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 26, 1927, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 46 years, she was a cashier and a member of Culinary Local 814.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; one daughter, Joyce Weisdorf of California; one son, Frank A. Mauriello of Henderson; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Bunkers Chapel. Entombment will follow in Eden Vale Mausoleum.

Edward Lee Shepler, 60, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 30, 1941, in Missouri. A resident for eight years, he was a public school teacher, an Army veteran and a member of American Legion Lodge 290.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his mother, Mamie Shepler of Leonard, Mo.; one son, Mikel Shepler, and one daughter, Lee Ann Beatty, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Phyllis Parsons of Palmyra, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 6 p.m. Friday in First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 301 S. Maryland Parkway. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

George W. Stowe III

George W. Stowe III, 49, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1952, in San Antonio. A resident for eight years, he was an election operations supervisor for Clark County and a prepaid legal associate.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; one son, George W. Stowe IV of Las Vegas; and one sister, Shirley Griffith of San Antonio.

Kenneth Wayne Tynes

Kenneth Wayne Tynes, 55, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 5, 1946, in New Orleans. A resident for 23 years, he was a Vietnam War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by three brothers, Keith Tynes of St. Louis and Marshall Tynes and David Tynes, both of Las Vegas; and one sister, Patricia Loreno of Baton Rouge, La.

Henry Westbrook

Henry Westbrook, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born May 31, 1924, in Carthage, Ark. A resident for 50 years, he was a commercial driver for REECo at the Nevada Test Site.

He is survived by one daughter, Gail M. Westbrook, one son, Anthony D. Westbrook, and one brother, Hugh Westbrook, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Mamie Flemming of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Ola Dillard of Los Angeles; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled noon-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave. Graveside services are pending.

Joseph Yablow

Joseph Yablow, 87, of Las Vegas died Nov. 16 in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 28, 1913, in New York. A resident for many years, he was a bellhop and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one brother, Benjamin Yablow of Pembroke, Fla.
