Columnist Peter Benton: Biz Women, Red Rock atop SNGA standings

Although the race in the Women's Southern Nevada Golf Association team competition is becoming more competitive, the Las Vegas Business Women's team still retains the overall Blue League lead with 46 1/2 points.

Their team of C. Caruso, Bobbie Wiener, Jan Hanson, Eve Farr, Jackie Pierson, Lynn King, Marilyn Schaupp and G. Cullen narrowly defeated the second place Sun City team (40 points) in March's tournament, 12 1/2-11 1/2.

The Las Vegas Country Club is in third spot with 35 points, followed by Stallion Mountain, 30 1/2; Badlands, 29 1/2; Canyon Gate, 21 1/2; and Sunrise Vista, 13.

In the Red League, the Red Rock Country Club team of Julie Skinner, Madeline DuBue, Cindy Frouts, Connie Lee, Inja Korn, Lisa Clark, Michelle LeMaster and Linda Chain's 22-2 victory over Los Prados pushed it atop the standings with 41 1/2 total points.

Spanish Trail with 36 points is next followed by Boulder City, 35; The Revere, 32 1/2; Las Vegas Golf Club, 32; Desert Rose, 29; and Los Prados, 10.Peter Benton
