Show leaving Dallas for Mandalay

The Professional Products Association International Expo, a five-day trade show that has drawn up to 18,000 conventioneers and exhibitors a year to Dallas for the past 26 years, will move to Las Vegas in 2003 and exhibit at the new Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

A spokesman for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority confirmed that the show, an exhibition of promotional products from pens, pencils and keychains to elaborate visual displays, will be at Mandalay Bay Jan. 13-17 for the first year of a three-year run in Las Vegas.

The 1.8 million-square-foot Mandalay Bay Convention Center opens in January and already has scheduled four trade shows in its first month.

Executives of the Professional Products Association International said they were drawn to Mandalay Bay by the proximity of the new convention center to the company's sister hotels, the Excalibur and the Luxor.
