Vegas resort sues over canceled conference

The Las Vegas Strip's Bellagio resort sued to recover $68,670 in damages from Medical Educational Consultants Inc. of Houston after it allegedly cancelled a training conference scheduled at Bellagio Dec. 11-15, 1999.

Medical, which Bellagio said agreed on Aug. 29, 1999 to book 791 room nights at a rate of $125 a night, was accused in Clark County District Court Friday of defaulting on an agreement to pay "100 percent of anticipated room revenues" if it cancelled within 179 days prior to the start of the conference on Dec. 12.

Medical, which allegedly cancelled the conference without cause on Nov. 30, 1999, could not be reached for comment on Bellagio's allegations.
