Assembly Majority Leader Barbara Buckley faces no opposition in the Democratic primary but will square off against Republican Kevin Child in November.
Buckley, 41, is an attorney and executive director of Clark County Legal Services. In her four terms in Carson City she sponsored legislation on consumer protection, health care and education.
She hopes to expand prescription drug programs improve education, increase education funding and protect buyers from purchasing unsafe rebuilt vehicles.
Child, 40, works in real estate and is active in a citizen police committee and serves as a volunteer firefighter.
His platform includes reducing taxes for senior citizens, tort reform and education. His motto is FAN, "fairness, accountability and what's good for Nevadans."
