Teacher’s aide faces sex charge

Metro Police are investigating allegations of sexual misconduct between a Durango High School special education teacher's aide and a special education student.

The case was expected to be forwarded to prosecutors later today or Friday to determine if charges will be filed, Lt. Jeff Carlson of Metro's sexual assault unit said.

A Clark County Park Police officer, checking on a car parked at the Desert Breeze Park, at Durango Drive and Spring Mountain Road, about 9 p.m. Feb. 13, found Carolyn Wilson, 40, and a 16-year-old boy, Lt. Rick Bishop, acting Park Police chief, said.

Wilson was issued citations for possession of marijuana, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. The boy was taken to the juvenile detention center on the same charges and indecent exposure, he said.

Wilson has been removed from the classroom, but Clark County School District officials would not reveal if she had been suspended.
