Olivia Bravo

Olivia Bravo, 97, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 4, 1904, in Zamora, Mexico. A resident for 89 years, she was a retired grocery store owner.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe; one daughter, Maria; and one son, Benjamin Bravo.

She is survived by four daughters, Carmen Sanchez, Dolores Malina, Rose Ramos and Mary Louise Navarro, and one son, Benjamin Bravo, all of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Sunday with a 5 p.m. service in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Burial will be Palm Memorial Park.

Julia O. Candelaria

Julia O. Candelaria, 99, of Boulder City died Wednesday in Boulder City. She was born Oct. 29, 1902, in Springerville, Ariz. A resident for 34 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Julia Sloan of Scottsdale, Ariz., Elsie Esparza of Phoenix and Sophie Sanchez of Boulder City; three sons, Pete Candelaria of Phoenix, Cesario Candelaria of Crestline, Calif., and Gilbert Candelaria of Henderson; one sister, Juanita Alvarez of Las Vegas; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Friday in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1399 San Felipe Drive, Boulder City. Graveside services will be Friday in Boulder City Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Monica Maureen Carlgren

Monica Maureen Carlgren, 53, of Pahrump died Wednesday in Pahrump. She was born Dec. 10, 2002, in Pahrump. A resident for 15 years, she was a Nye County EMT.

She is survived by her husband, Mitchell; three daughters, Shawn Marie Carlgren of Las Vegas, Andreea Deloa Hall of Las Vegas and Michell Beomish of Oregon; her father, Edward Leonard of California; two brothers, Keith Leonard of California and Gavin Leonard of Nebraska; two sisters, Marsha Weir and Norene Schultz, both of California; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Sunday and services are scheduled 2 p.m. Monday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.

Joe G. Chavez

Joe G. Chavez, 70, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. He was born March 15, 1932, in Folsom, N.M. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired city government electrician, a Korean War Navy and Air Force veteran, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mount Moriah Henderson Masonic Lodge 39 and Zelzah Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Judith A.; one sister, Cecelia Marquez of Commerce City, Colo.; and two brothers, Chris Chavez of Westminister, Colo., and Lou Chavez of Fort Worth, Texas.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until a 5 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Loretta 'Peggy' Cursoli

Loretta "Peggy" Cursoli, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 27, 1923, in Chicago. A resident for 49 years, she was a retired wardrobe mistress.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; one son, Gino Cursoli; four daughters, Michele Allen Couray of Colorado and Janine Cursoli, Denise Orozco and Ninette Harrington, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Harry Lawrence of Topeka, Kan.; one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Saturday at the Family Home Hospice, 1701 W. Charleston Blvd. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Francis J. Cyronek Sr.

Francis J. Cyronek Sr., 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Omaha, Neb. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired tavern owner and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; two sons, Tommy of Las Vegas and Frank Jr. of Tucson; two brothers, John of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Tony of Omaha; three sisters, Bess Balus of Omaha, Helen Lundy of Madras, Ore., and Ceil Bertolotti of Groveland, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Emery Dale

Emery Dale, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 18, 1927, in Coolidge, Kan. A resident for 49 years, he was a retired millwright and carpenter, a World War II Navy veteran and a retired member of Carpenters Local 1780 and Millwrights Local 1827.

He is survived by his wife, Margie; one daughter, Marsha Hagerman of Phoenix; one son, Mikell Dale of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Joseph Carmen Ferrara, 67, of North Las Vegas died in North Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 15, 1936, in New Haven, Conn. A resident for 11 years, he worked for Clark County Parks and Recreation Department and was a Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by one sister, Tina Mirto of Connecticut; four children; and five grandchildren.

Robert Floyd Martin

Robert Floyd Martin, 35, of Henderson died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 2, 1966, in Orlando, Fla. A resident for 30 years, he was a mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Shirazian-Martin; one son, Eric Klavmenzer of California; one brother, Donald Martin of North Carolina; and three sisters, Laura Martin, Cecile Martin and Vera Martin, all of Henderson.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Ray Lewis, 62, of Boulder Highway died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Swanwick, Ill. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired welder, a Vietnam War veteran and a member of Iron Workers Local 433.

He is survived by his wife, Carol M.; two daughters, Nadine Lewis of Topeka, Kan., and Pam McFarland of Las Vegas; two sons, Michael Baxter and Joe L. Bills, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Blanche Lewis, and one brother, Orval Lewis, both of Castro Valley, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. today and 12:30 p.m. until a 2 p.m. service Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Louise D. Motis

Louise D. Motis, 80, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local health care center. She was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Fairfield, Idaho. A resident for 41 years, she was a retired supermarket checker.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Heki of Ventura, Calif.; one son, Bill Motis of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Kathryn Pollack

Kathryn Pollack, 49, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 12, 1952, in New Jersey. A resident for many years, she was a licensed practical nurse.

She is survived by two sisters, Denise Sterling and Margaret Clinton, both of New Jersey.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Harvey P. Schenck

Harvey P. Schenck, 40, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 22, 1961, in Somerville, N.J. A resident for 32 years, he was a teacher, an Air Force veteran, founder of the Las Vegas group of Amnesty International, was named Clark County Science Teacher of the Year, received Nevada State Science Teachers Association-Outstanding Educator for 1998-1999 and Radio Shack National Teacher Award for Outstanding Teacher Award for Science Teacher 1999-2000.

He is survived by his life partner, Brent E. Stapley of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Roy Morihiko Shioji, 56, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born July 8, 1944, in Manzanar, Calif. A resident for 6 1/2 years, he was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marion; three daughters, Kiyomi Pavalora and Debby Moltzan, both of Las Vegas, and Carolyn Courtney of Riverside, Calif.; one brother, Walter Shioji of Long Beach, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Paula Scherr of Henderson and Linda Olson of Boulder City; one son, Cecil Thorne of Lakeside, Calif.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Chester S. Toguchi, 80, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born April 16, 1922, in Pepeekeo, Hawaii. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired longshoreman.

He is survived by his wife, Hatsumi; three daughters, Frances N. Miyasato of Gardena, Calif., Arlene Toguchi of Scotts Valley, Calif., and Renee Toguchi of Kona, Hawaii; one sister, Setsuko Shimamoto of Monterey Park, Calif., and Gladys Gushiken of Hilo, Hawaii; and one grandchild.

Lillian H. Wallace, 91, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born March 13, 1911, in Connecticut. A retired bookkeeper for an accounting firm, she was founder and CEO of Seniors United, a lifetime member of Hadassah and many other civic organizations.

Gerald E. Wheatley, 68, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born July 7, 1934, in Steamboat Springs, Colo. A resident for nine years, he was a retired owner of a petroleum business, a former employee of Solano County Sheriffs Department, an Army veteran and a member of American Quarter Horse Association.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; two sons, Monty Wheatley and Eric Wheatley of California; three daughters, Renee Wheatley of Dixon, Calif., Lora Bearer and Katrina Wheatley of Fairfield, Calif.; one brother, Lloyd Wheatley Jr. of Indiana; three sisters, Nellie Collins of Placerville, Calif., Evelyn Fittro of California and Mary Diane Wilson of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Noel B. Wood Sr., 66, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 18, 1935, in Wisconsin. A resident for five years, he was a retired fire department captain.

He is survived by his wife, Mary J.; four sons, Noel B. Wood II of Las Vegas, Daniel E. Wood and David E. Wood, both of Chula Vista, Calif., and James E. Wood of Temecula, Calif.; one brother, Gerome, and one sister, Beverly, both of California; and seven grandchildren.
