Letter: Ensign has card to play in battle over nuke waste

Not to attack him is bad for Nevada! President Bush is a liar because he broke his promise that he would use sound science to base his decision Yucca Mountain. Period. Ditto for Social Security, lockbox propaganda, Medicare prescription coverage for seniors, etc.

I recently read that during 1951-63 fallout from nuclear testing in Nevada caused 15,000 nationwide cancer deaths. Facts. Does Mr. Bryant know the health risks that are associated with the burial of nuclear waste and the exposure associated with transportation? The top U.S. scientists are super concerned. Is the person who was elected president always right about everything? Even killing, poisoning, mutilating Nevadans?

Nevadans are not, as Mr. Bryant wrote, "a bunch of name calling, unpatriotic, desert renegades." If Ed Bernstein (a top U.S. lawyer) had been elected in 2000, he wouldn't be burying his head in the sands of Yucca Mountain. If 39 states get to send their personal radiation garbage to our back yard and literally poison us, why not, like Sen. Reid, take on the top guy.

Sen. John Ensign, a Republican, should demand that the Senate vote this rape of Nevada down. He could become an independent if they don't see things his way.

Come on John Ensign, save this state, become an independent if these senators vote against our wonderful state! Don't let the "fat cats" of the nuke industry dump on us.
