Help sought for victims of flood

The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada is looking for donations to meet the needs of those affected by last week's flood.

Donations can be made by check, credit card or cash to the local office. Call 791-3311 for more information. Donations can be sent to 3672 N. Rancho Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130.

Wells Fargo Bank has established the "Aug. 19, 2003, Las Vegas Flood" account. The account number is 3418307090 and refer to this account when making a contribution.

The Red Cross spent $100,000 to assist 150 victims affected by the floods of 1999.

Black-tie event to benefit school

"Somewhere Over the Rainbow," a black tie event to benefit Kermit Booker Elementary School, will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Treasure Island.

The proceeds will help fulfill dreams of the students who attend Booker by providing the students the necessary instructional software that will provide automatic feedback in math and English.

The event will include a four-course dinner, entertainment, prize giveaways including a round-trip ticket for two anywhere Southwest Airlines flies, crystal, accessories, wines and gifts.

Henderson planning Wallyball league

The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration for a new adult Wallyball league from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays at the Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Road.

Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis until all leagues are filled. All teams are required to wear matching jerseys.

League play begins the week of Oct. 6.

American Red Cross

Immunizations

The Clark County Health District has four public health centers and 15 satellite clinics open each week in Southern Nevada to provide immunizations. A $15 administration fee will be assessed per visit. These clinics will be open through Aug. 31.

District offices will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.
