Letter: Seat-belt law has tragic effect

Has do-gooder legislation finally begun to implode of its own weight? The recent death of a 7-month-old boy, left in a van for eight hours, could have been prevented had the law not required the tot to be strapped in a "safety seat" and put in the back seat.

While I'm not excusing the culpability of the "overworked" father, had he had the option to put the child in the front seat with him, this tragic event would never have happened.

While we on Earth are passing laws "for the children," God welcomes one of them, 7 months old, forever.
