Bilingual 911 operators sought

Metro Police are accepting applications through July 2 for 911 call-takers who are fluent in both English and Spanish. Applications are available at Metro's personnel office at 101 E. Convention Center Drive, Suite P-200.

Interested parties may also attend an informational seminar to learn more about the job requirements. The seminars will be held at the Community College of Southern Nevada, Cheyenne campus, on these days:

Admissions group plans luncheon

The Local Educational Admissions Representatives Network will honor its supporters at a luncheon at noon Wednesday at Regis University's Green Valley campus, 1401 N. Green Valley Parkway.

The consortium of both public and private higher education providers in the valley includes: University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Regis University; Nevada State College; Community College of Southern Nevada; University of Oklahoma (Nellis Air Force Base); Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; Midwestern University; Nova University; and University of Phoenix.

Home-buying seminar scheduled

Consumer Credit Counseling Service will hold the free home buyer seminar, A Home of My Own, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at 3650 S. Decatur Blvd., Suite 32.

Participants will learn benefits of home ownership, building and improving their credit history, budgeting for accumulation of funds, how to obtain a mortgage, negotiation and closing, and real estate property disclosure.

A Certificate of Education will be awarded to those attending all sessions.

Animal Foundation offers free pets

The Animal Foundation will be offering free dogs and cats from 11 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 655 N. Mojave Road.

The Animal Foundation spays, neuters, immunizes and implants a microchip in every dog and cat offered for adoption.
