Forrest D. Abel

Forrest D. Abel, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born June 7, 1915, in Mason City, Iowa. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired Army senior master sergeant and a World War II and Korean War veteran.

He is survived by one son, Jerry L. Abel of Las Vegas; one sister, Marion Porath of Parker, Ariz.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9-10 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

Robert W. Allen

Robert W. Allen, 70, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 28, 1933, in California. A resident for more than 20 years, he was a retired railroad warehouseman and a Korean War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by two sisters, Lois Jean Stevenson of Hawthorne, Calif., and Margaret Owens of Sacramento; and two brothers, Richard Allen of North Las Vegas and William Allen of Boise, Idaho.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Scott Baker

Scott Baker, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Missouri. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired federal government supply manager and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Gitty Webb and Sylvia Perkes, both of Las Vegas; one son, John Baker of Cedar City, Utah; two brothers, Wayne Baker of Keenesburg, Colo., and Dean Baker of Westminster, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Marie Carr

Marie Carr, 102, of Boulder City died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 6, 1901, in New Sharon, Iowa. A resident for 34 years, she was a retired federal government office assistant and a member of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine.

She is survived by one daughter, Marian Morris of Camarillo, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

The family suggests donations to New Hope Hospice of Nevada, 8 Sunset Way, No. 130, Henderson, NV 89014, or the donor's favorite charity.

Michael S. Clark

Michael S. Clark, 47, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 23, 1956, in Germany. A resident for 11 years, he was a custodian in the medical industry.

He is survived by his companion, Otis Hayes of Las Vegas; his stepmother, Ann Clark of Texas; and one sister, Therese Ware-Byron of California.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Paul A. Dufner

Paul A. Dufner, 97, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 9, 1905, in Sparta, Wis. A resident for five years, he was a retired assistant school superintendent.

He is survived by his wife, Claire; one son, William Dufner of Pensacola, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Wilbur Hawke

Wilbur Hawke, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Mammoth, Utah. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired letter carrier.

He is survived by one son, Richard Hawke of Las Vegas; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Mona Lea McCoy

Mona Lea McCoy, 70, of Las Vegas died May 23 in a local hospice. She was born Nov. 29, 1932, in Ronan, Mont. A resident for 36 years, she was a hotel waitress.

She is survived by one son, Stacey McCoy of Las Vegas; one daughter, Cindy Sherman of Belgrade, Mont.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.

Brian S. Nelson

Brian S. Nelson, 43, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 25, 1960, in Breckenridge, Minn. A resident for 10 years, he was an Air Force technical sergeant, a Persian Gulf Air Force veteran, a lifetime member of Harley Owners group, a member of Military Veterans Motorcycle Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 100.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; two daughters, Christina Collinsworth and Dawn Rose Nelson, both of Las Vegas; and his mother, Betty Jean Bjerke of Abercrombie, N.D.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday in Central Christian Church, 1001 New Beginnings Drive, Henderson. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Brian Porreca

Brian Porreca, 43, of Las Vegas died Thursday. A trainer, he was born Oct. 17, 1959, in Massachusetts.

He is survived by his companion, Anne Marie Lynch of Medford, Mass.; and one brother, Ronald Porreca of Massachusetts.

Marilou Ramey

Marilou Ramey, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born March 26, 1928, in Utica, N.Y. A resident for 33 years, she was retired and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Nimrod; one son, Jeff Ramey, and one daughter, Bobbie Quinn, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Josephine G. Rendon

Josephine G. Rendon, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A resident for three years, she was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Texas.

She is survived by seven sons, Ray Rendon of Edmond, Okla., Raymond Rendon of Houston, Robert Rendon, Richard Rendon and Richard Rendon, all of Las Vegas, Reuben Rendon of Texas and Roland Rendon of Oregon; one daughter, RoseMary Bonitez of Las Vegas; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4:30-7 p.m. today in Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Suite 1. Graveside services will be 8 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Henry L. Smith

Henry L. Smith, 62, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born May 8, 1941, in Mississippi. A resident for 32 years, he was a newspaper driver.

He is survived by one daughter, Cicely Smith of North Las Vegas; his mother, Minnie Williams of Mississippi; seven brothers, David Williams of Las Vegas, Ezekiel Smith and Alvin Smith, both of St. Louis, Samuel Williams of Memphis, Tenn., and Howard Williams, Eugene Williams and Allen Williams, all of Chicago; four sisters, Laura Hover and Velma Williams, both of Mississippi, and Edna Betts and Fannie Howard, both of Chicago; and two grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled noon-6 p.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Burial will be in Mississippi.

Seymour Spielvogel

Seymour Spielvogel, 57, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1946, in New York City. A resident for 30 years, he was a hotel inventory controller and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his father, Nathan Spielvogel of Las Vegas; and one sister, Cheryl Barrett of North Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 10-11 a.m. Thursday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Larry Martin Spigelmyer

Larry Martin Spigelmyer, 70, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 44 years, he was a retired teacher and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; one son, Scott; one daughter, Sharon; his mother, Maye; two brothers, Jerry and Neil; one sister, Gwen Knepp; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Desert Spring United Methodist Church, 120 N. Pavilion Center Drive. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Christopher D. Urban

Christopher D. Urban, 30, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 4, 1973, in Henderson. A lifelong resident, he was a hotel driver.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna; his parents, Juanita and Lorenzo Urban, and one sister, Roberta Urban, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Mabel Margaret Weaver

Mabel Margaret Weaver, 85, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Terre Haute, Ind. A resident for 33 years, she was a retired Hilton hotel housekeeper and a member of the Culinary Union.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Joe Gwin, Kenneth Leon Gwin and Frank Szczurko; and one daughter, Patricia Marie Dimare.

Carl E. Wilkins

Carl E. Wilkins, 61, of Las Vegas died June 7 in Las Vegas. He was born July 6, 1941, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 45 years, he was a presser at a cleaners.

He is survived by one daughter, Cecilia Freeman of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be noon Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
