Rebels come up short in bid to sweep Lobos

The 16th-ranked UNLV baseball team dropped a 13-10 decision to New Mexico on Sunday afternoon at Lobo Field.

Ryan Braun (5-2) took the loss for the Rebels. He came in with the game tied 10-10 and surrendered three runs -- two earned -- in the eighth. UNLV starter Jake Vose gave up six runs on five hits in five innings.

Garett Shitanishi led the Rebels (39-14, 22-5 in the MWC) with three hits. Teammate Fernando Valenzuela went 2-for-4 with three RBI, including his team-leading 12th home run of the season.

UNLV wraps up the regular season with three games against Utah beginning Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
