Metro rounds up suspects in robberies

Metro Police recently solved three unrelated series of robberies with the arrests of nine people, Lt. Ted Snodgrass said.

On Thursday detectives arrested Jenny Patricia Carrasco, 23, Larry Ulysses Beavers, age unavailable, and Richard Olney Flynn, 43, in connection with a series of armed robberies of businesses in northwest Las Vegas and one violent home invasion robbery on Wednesday.

Beavers left a photo identification card in a Day Planner at one of the scenes, Snodgrass said. Credit cards and identification belonging to a victim were also found with his belongings.

In an unrelated case, detectives arrested 23-year-old Terrence Ford May 16 in connection with two convenience store robberies committed in late April and early May. Snodgrass said Ford was also sought in seven other robberies, and the investigation is continuing.

Police in Reno arrested three men, Chris Rogers, Calvin O'Hara and Edwin Thurmond, 28, in connection with 11 robberies and attempted robberies of Las Vegas coin companies dating back to July 2002, Snodgrass said. Arrest warrants for three other people are pending.

Police allege Rogers and O'Hara were involved in an attempted robbery of a coin truck driver in September 2002 and the robbery of another coin truck driver in October 2002, police said.

Since April robbery detectives have listened to phone conversations between the men, Snodgrass said. This led to the arrest of Thurmond in connection with the robberies of two coin truck drivers and the carjacking of a woman in July 2002. He also was arrested on two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery with two other men, Robert Foreman, 42 and Tavaras Chandler, 28.

Another robbery occurred April 25, and police have four suspects. Police expect to issue arrest warrants.
