Retailer closing Vegas store

Home furnishings retailer Strouds Acquisition Corp. said it will close its Las Vegas store as part of a liquidation of its chain of 47 stores nationwide following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing last week.

Susan Storey, chief executive of City of Industry, Calif.-based Strouds, said the closures were part of an orderly liquidation of the company's assets.

The liquidation of Strouds' 47 stores in California, Minnesota, Arizona and Nevada began May 20 and will be completed by early August, she said. All 14 employees at the Strouds store at 204 S. Decatur Blvd. will be laid off, she said.
