Suspect in slayings of three arrested

A suspect in the murder of three young men who were shot to death Tuesday at an apartment near downtown was arrested about 4:45 p.m. Thursday by members of the Criminal Apprehension Team.

Glenford Anthony Budd, 20, nicknamed "A.I.," after Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers, was arrested without resistance at 16 E. Webb Ave., near Las Vegas Boulevard North, Metro Homicide Lt. Tom Monahan said.

He was tracked to the apartment by members of CAT, a joint federal task force with members from the FBI, Metro and the Henderson Police.

Budd was charged with three counts of murder with a weapon and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Police suspect that the shooting may have been a result of a marijuana deal gone bad.

Early Tuesday three young men, identified as Da'jon Jones, 13, Jason Moore, 17, and Derrick Jones, 23, were found after a shooting at the Saratoga Palms II East complex at 2895 E. Charleston Blvd., near Fremont Street.

None of the victims is related.

Metro investigators said that Budd apparently knew the victims. Some residents at the complex said the group had been playing basketball together prior to the shooting, which occurred just after midnight. There was no sign of forced entry at the apartment where the bodies were found.

Gang officers who were patrolling the area heard gunfire just after midnight. They found one victim dead on a second-floor landing. Two others were inside the apartment.
