Gene L. Archibald

Gene L. Archibald, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Chicago. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired Army top sergeant and Korean War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Scott of Streamwood, Ill., Ronald of Bartlett, Ill., and Aaron of Cherryville, N.C.; four daughters, Karen Marple of Oceanview, N.J., Renee Dietz of Chicago, Joanne Schultz of Schaumburg, Ill., and Mary Archibald of South Dakota; and 21 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Debra Denise Bethea

Debra Denise Bethea, 46, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1957, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was employed by the Sands Expo Convention Center.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Guynes; three sons, Richard Bethea, Demetrick Tellis and Don Shumate, one daughter, Doni Eboni Shumate, her parents, Luther and Carolyn Bethea, two brothers, Michael Hill and Eddie Bethea, and three sisters, Brenda Rochell, LaVoynne Richards and Diane Gaines, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday at American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, 1117 N. F St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Janet Lee Blakey

Janet Lee Blakey, 46, of Las Vegas died Oct. 9 in Las Vegas. She was born May 12, 1957, in Yankton, S.D.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Blakey, and two sisters, Loretta Johnson and Linda Blakey.

She is survived by two sons, Russell Blakey Irvine of California and Mathew Blakey of Tea, S.D.; one daughter, Toni Bolden Blakey of Tea; three brothers, Mark Blakey and Jack Blakey, both of Yankton, and Jim Blakey of Hot Springs, S.D.; and two sisters, Lucile Brown of Yankton and Elsie Blakey of Omaha, Neb.

Ray, Cantrell & Wintz Funeral Home, Yankton, is handling arrangements.

Mildred R. Blicharz

Mildred R. Blicharz, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Milwaukee. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Carol Myers and Linda Bueno, both of Henderson, and Susan Masek of Temecula, Calif.; one son, Edward Blicharz of Pulaski, Wis.; four brothers, John Kosidowski of Mercer, Wis., Tom Kosidowski of Tomahawk, Wis., Ed Kosidowski of Wisconsin and Charles Kosidowski of Germantown, Wis.; two sisters, Lillian Brent of Conover, Wis., and Janet Jashinsky of Westbend, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Lola Cabine

Lola Cabine, 69, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born June 21, 1934, in Columbus, Ohio. A resident for one month, she was an intake outreach specialist for county government.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Pennywell of Las Vegas, Dana Pennywell of Compton, Calif., and Yalonda Neal of Flint, Mich.; one son, Genovis Neal Durr of Beaver, W.Va.; two brothers, Frederick Woods of Muskegon, Mich., and Joseph Perkins of Detroit; one sister, Idella Hamilton-Middleton of Suiteland, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 30 minutes prior to a 2 p.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Chiao Shick Chow

Chiao Shick Chow, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 17, 1928, in China. A resident for 13 years, he was a cook at Imperial Palace.

He is survived by his wife, Heyi Situ; one daughter, Lihua Zhou, and three sons, Chor Hung Chow, Joe Zhoe and Chu Zhou, all of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Bunkers Chapel, followed by burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

June Cook

June Cook, 88, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 12, 1914, in Virginia. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. today at the Plaza Regency, 6021 W. Cheyenne Ave. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Richard Rosario Franco

Richard Rosario Franco, 59, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born June 22, 1944, in Stamford, Conn. A resident for 12 years, he was a restaurateur.

He is survived by one son, Thomas Richard Franco; one daughter, Marissa Ann Franco; two brothers, Angelo Franco and Dominic Franco; and two sisters, Margaret Bauer and Ray Salvaggio.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Luciana Pesusich

Luciana Pesusich, 76, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born July 29, 1927, in San Pedro, Calif. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel T.; one daughter, Zandra Halstead of Pine Mountain Club, Calif.; one son, Earl S. Pesusich of Las Vegas; and three brothers, Sam Bilich of Harbor City, Calif., Joe Bilich of San Pedro, Calif., and Tom Bilich of California.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Mont Spencer

Mont Spencer, 75, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospice. He was born June 20, 1928, in Kanab, Utah. A resident for 34 years, he was a retired Lockheed Air Terminal diesel mechanic and a Korean War and Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ruriko; two daughters, Kathleen Stephens of Walsenburg, Colo., and Lisa Donnelly of Boulder City; one son, Martin Spencer; three sisters, LaRue Sorrensen of Dietrich, Idaho, Florene Lamb of Mount Carmel, Utah, and Lois Porter of Vernal, Utah; eight brothers, Stanley Spencer of Glendale, Utah, Glendon Spencer, Harris Spencer, Leland Spencer and Rodney Spencer, all of Salt Lake City, Vance Spencer of Centerfield, Utah, Hugh Spencer of Mount Carmel, Utah, and Dell Spencer of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Saturday in the LDS Palo Verde chapel. Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Sara M. Tapiz

Sara M. Tapiz, 49, of Las Vegas died Saturday. A porter at Harrah's, she was born Feb. 24, 1954, in Mexico.

She is survived by two sons, James Tapiz of Las Vegas and John Tapiz of California; and one daughter, Bridget Prieto.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St.

Jim Westmoreland

Jim Westmoreland, 42, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 30, 1961, in Long Beach, Calif. A resident for 21 years, he was a publisher in the tourism business and a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Angie; two daughters, Whitney Westmoreland and Taylor Westmoreland, both of Las Vegas; his mother and stepfather, Karen and Charles Coleman of St. George, Utah; and two brothers, Steve Westmoreland of Las Vegas and Tom Westmoreland of St. George.

Visitation is scheduled 90 minutes prior to a 10:30 a.m. service Saturday in the LDS Palo Verde Ward chapel. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
