Letter: Adult stem cells are more effective

Did you know that embryonic stem cell research has proved ineffective, even disastrous, in animals? And another interesting thing to note: Stem cells from embryos have not produced one successful therapy whatsoever. Though some scientists hope for embryonic stem cell success, there have not been any successes thus far.

Adult stem cell research, on the other hand, has amazingly produced effective treatments for more than 40 diseases and afflictions, including heart disease, diabetes, spinal cord injuries, and many others!

What is the difference between embryonic and adult stem cells? Well, the extraction of stem cells from an embryo destroys the embryo, while stem cells from an adult (through a placenta or umbilical cord) causes no harm whatsoever to the patient.

So, why don't we fund the research that doesn't harm human life and yet produces more treatments?
