Motorcyclist killed in crash

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday night in a collision at Martin Luther King Boulevard near Owens Avenue.

He was identified this morning as 33-year-old Zedrick Mitchell Robinson. The coroner's office did not know where he lived.

A police officer saw Robinson "doing wheelies" and driving recklessly on the road at about 7:15 p.m., police said. The officer turned on his lights and sirens and attempted to pull the 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle over, but Robinson would not stop, police said.

Robinson drove south on Martin Luther King Boulevard, past Washington Avenue, and attempted to pass a 1997 Mercury Tracer through a small opening between the car and the curb, police said.

Robinson sideswiped the Mercury and struck a pole on the side of the road; he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Robinson was the 115th person to die in traffic in Las Vegas or unincorporated Clark County this year, police said.
