Two more file for Mack’s job

Two more candidates have entered the crowded race to replace Las Vegas Councilman Michael Mack, and the race for Henderson's newly created Municipal Court is now a three-person contest.

Robert D. Glover and Steve Ross filed on Thursday to run for the Ward 6 seat on the Las Vegas City Council.

The other candidates in that race are city Planning Commissioner Byron Goynes, Debbie Kitterman Burgos, Jeff Crisman and Steve Sanson.

Mack has said he won't run for re-election because he wants to spend more time with his children.

Also, Michael L. Miller filed to run for Municipal Court judge in Henderson. The other candidates vying for that position are David Gibson Jr. and Diana Hampton.

And in North Las Vegas, Jean Withers filed Thursday to run against incumbent Stephanie Smith in that city's Ward 3 council race.

The candidate-filing period runs through Feb. 4 for the spring elections in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City. At stake are some seats on city councils, Municipal Court benches and the mayors' offices in North Las Vegas and Henderson.

The cities' primary elections will be held April 5, with early voting from March 19 to April 1. The general elections will be on June 7, with early voting from May 21 to June 3.

In all the cities, if a candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote in a primary election, they are declared the winner and no general elections is held in that race.
