Child services director resigns

CARSON CITY -- Jone M. Bosworth, administrator of the state Division of Child and Family Services, which oversees some 6,000 youngsters with a budget of close to $500 million, has resigned.

Bosworth, who has headed the agency for two years, said Thursday she has a "fantastic opportunity" to become senior director for the Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative in St. Louis.

She steps down Nov. 1 from the $104,000 a year position. State Human Resources Director Mike Willden said recruitment has started for her replacement. Willden also confirmed that Robert McLellan, deputy director of family services in Southern Nevada, resigned effective last week.

Bosworth was responsible for handling problems in the state juvenile detention centers and re-opening Summit View Youth Correctional Center.
