Letter: Solicitors make it hard to enjoy vacation

My husband and I returned yesterday from a visit to your city, where we celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. Our accommodations were great, the entertainment was first rate, and the weather was beautiful. However, we probably will not be scheduling a return trip because we were incessantly harassed by people marketing time shares from the time we arrived until the time we left.

We were unable to walk down the street or into any hotel or casino on the Strip without being accosted by individuals offering "promotions." We did not come to Las Vegas to purchase a time share and we did not appreciate being the target of constant marketing efforts.

I would strongly suggest that the city consider some type of measure to ensure that those who do not wish to be approached by aggressive salespeople be able to enjoy their vacations in peace. In my opinion, these salespeople are much worse than panhandlers.

Surely, other visitors are taking this into consideration when deciding whether to spend their vacation dollars in Las Vegas.
