Letter: Military strategists are no architects

A Washington Post article by Ann Scott Tyson, published in last Saturday's paper, refers to President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith and Donald Rumsfeld as the "architects" of the Iraq war.

As an architect, I resent the outrageous use of the term "architect" to apply to perpetrators and strategists of war. Architects are the professionals who have built our beautiful cities and impressive skylines throughout the world.

Those who create war, on the other hand, are responsible for the destruction of cities, buildings, societies, and for the killing, abusing and injuring of human beings and the devastation of their families.

Using the term "architect" elevates these people to a status much higher than their actions deserve.
