Letter: Nationalism is not a dirty word

There is a segment of our society that is upset by the Senate's passage of a bill on a national language.

This is the same segment that wants to do away with our national anthem, national flag and probably our national monuments, national holidays (like the Fourth of July), and national pastime (baseball). The next thing they will want is to do away with our national defense, which protects them from anyone taking away their national Bill-of-Rights.

It is hard to believe that someone would advocate doing away with the nationalisms that define who and what we have become as a nation, and what we will become. This segment of our society that opposes the national language issue won't be happy until all our nationalisms have been reduced to nothing.
