Letter: Complaints make more noise than flight path

I cannot believe how much whining is being done about the right turn of the flight paths. When I moved to the southwest part of the Las Vegas Valley, it is true that I knew the flights would be going right over my house on a regular basis.

When I first moved in, I would get visibly angry as the roar interrupted the peace and quiet of my day. But after just a few months, it became old news. I got used to it, just like everyone else will.

I fail to see why the fact that those who moved into areas they thought weren't fly-over areas are somehow exempt from changes. And just because I knew the planes would be flying overhead, I somehow deserve the noise and potential crashing into my pool more than others? Get over yourselves. You don't own the sky.

I've read about property values decreasing and ruined lives. Get some perspective. It's plane noise, not a leaking nuclear power plant being built next door. And don't blame the politicians. The idea that taxpayer money was spent on legal action against the right turn is painful enough.

How should a politician fight a change in flight paths? Fly over these residents and not those? There's no winner here unless you plunk the airport in Primm - then there would be complaints about too much traffic and not enough roads to the airport. You live in a big city - planes fly overhead - get used to it.
