FLASHPOINT for Nov 09, 2007

State Sen. Barbara Cegavske was consoling consultant Steve Wark the other night at McCarran International Airport. Wark had just returned from trying to help Overstock.com Chief Executive Patrick Byrne, who has put some money into Nevada, pass school vouchers in Utah. But the plan went down to a resounding defeat, with more than 60 percent of Utahns voting down the plan to give any student, regardless of wealth, a tax subsidy to attend private school. More than $4 million from the National Education Association poured into the state and helped crush the initiative's chances, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Byrne was quoted as saying he isn't giving up , and Cegavske told Wark maybe it could pass in Nevada. Get ready.
