Letter: Smokers should stay out of my space

Regarding Robert Kaye's Nov. 6 letter, "Smokers' littering is disgusting, neglectful":
Granted, there is a litter problem on our streets, and picking up this trash by worthy citizens goes a long way in solving the problem.
However, when smokers foul my air space, what do I do, stay home? Isn't preventing me from breathing clean air really a matter of encroaching on an individual's rights?
A solution? Smokers must do their thing in designated areas while refraining from doing so in the nonsmokers' domain.
