You have to acknowledge it: Mayor Oscar Goodman is a funny guy. At his news conference Thursday he declared, “I don’t make statements which are going to put me in a corner like ‘I’m never going to raise taxes.’” His Honor makes me long for a 2010 matchup between him and the guy who does say “no new taxes” every chance he gets. Indeed, Goodman and Gibbons are opposites when it comes to those unequivocal utterances. Goodman actually has put himself in that corner many times. But when he is caught, he simply denies he ever said it in the first place even if the first place was five minutes ago. And on videotape! Gibbons, though, just keeps saying it. And saying it. And saying it. What a race for governor that would be!
