Here’s some bad news for spinning Nevada Democrats:Stu Rothenberg, who may do the most work analyzing House races of anyone in the country, does not list Republican Dean Heller’s seat as one of 63 in play this year. Seems Rothenberg doesn’t think Jill Derby’s second attempt to defeat Heller has much chance, probably because of the power of incumbency, the enduring GOP registration advantage and Heller’s epiphany that he is a conservative. Rep. Jon Porter’s seat is still on Rothenberg’s list, though, among eight seats the pundit categorizes as leaning Republican. That sounds about right to me. I wonder if any of these ratings would change based on whom the Democrats nominate. We should know soon or in August.
